Hello and greetings from up North, Finland.. :crazy:
I am collectin flags and have about 45 of them already, thanks to my friends abroad and my travels around Europe. Anyway, I still don't have the Moldovan one. Are they expensive there? Or would there be some one nice that could buy me a Moldovan flag and send it to me? I could pay it if they aren't too expensive.. the bigger the better.

So where are you from Finland? I've been there once, for 3 months. I liked the country, it's really great (albeit a bit expensive), and I really enjoyed Helsinki. I couldn't learn too much Finnish, unfortunately...
So, about the flag. I bought myself one from ebay.com. It cost me $10 plus $5 for shipping (to Germany). I guess that you could get one from ebay.com (or ebay.de, if you speak German). Making a quick search on ebay.com shows about 10 hits, with prices ranging from $4 upwards (plus shipping).

You can get everything from Ebay it seems, might sound stupid but it would be so much nicer to get the Moldovan flag from Moldova :crazy:
Nice to hear that you liked Finland, yeah, it is expensive here, that's why we go shopping to Estonia once in a while :wink:

And oh, I am from Espoo, the 2nd largest city, right next to Helsinki. Actually I just came back from there, I spent a day at Suomenlinna island with my friend...

Well, as a matter of fact, I actually lived in Espoo, too. I was doing an internship at the Helsinki University of Technology and lived on their campus (which is admittedly very close to Helsinki itself :)). I visited the places in the greater Helsinki, and I walked around the Suomenlinna fortress, too. I have fond memories from there ;) (but, as I was saying, it was expensive and relatively cold).
About the flags... well, it's not that much cheaper to buy one from Moldova. I once asked my mother to look for one, and she found a small 30x50cm flag for about $10. She said that a 3'x5' flag would simply cost too much. Add to this the shipping charges to Finland (another $5) and you are much better off with one from ebay.com.
It's up to you to decide. Frankly, I think it would be much easier to get one from ebay -- organizing a purchase through somebody from this forum will be troublesome (esp. when it gets to the part of transferring the money) and a bit risky (ebay is relatively secure in this sense, with the feedback system).

Oh, so you were somewhere around Otaniemi I guess? Winter/Fall are not the best times here... June-August is the best time to visit Finland IMO. And if you want snow - January.
Well, maybe I will ask my German friend to bid for one at the German ebay, guess it is easier.. Thanks for the tip.

Well, I was there from June to August... but it was still cold by my standards :D (Moldova is really hot during summers.. sometimes it's +40C for weeks in here... and when it got to +30 in Helsinki last year, the Sanomat was describing it like a "disaster" :))

I think last Summer was fairly warm? At least dry, the good thing is that we don't have people dying from heat like Paris etc last Summer.. the heatwave was great, and really warm IMO. You foreigners never seem to be satisfied with our weather ;)
