how can i improve my english?? :roll: some suggestions, please

This is a question for an English teacher! :hehei:

The best (and only) way is to learn it live, on the streets. Nothing compares to real life. You learn to swim instantly when dropped into a pond, the same goes for languages. I've learned it from my peers, in a real envirnoment. My prior 11 years of school English were good for nothing, I couldn't understand a single spoken word. Compare it to swimming lessons on the shore.

Anatolie...how it is possible that you didn´t understand nothing? What was the problem? Was the street language too difficult for you or you didn´t learn nothing in this 11 years in the school?

As I said, the real world is far away from a teacher in a school that most likely didn't hear real English in his life. It's not about being too difficult, it's about differences. You are used to think in terms and constructs of your native langauge, while English (as any other language, in fact) has it's own history that you have to learn and assimilate. Pronunciation and accent play a big role, although the dictionary and the phrases you use are the key.

But, it is a big difference between the language spoken in the street and the language spoke at TV? For example: CNN...

i perfectlly agree with you, but this method can be applyed not only to english, it can be used for learning german or any other language, the same happend to me with german, i learned it in front of the tv and on the street talking with my friends...so every thing you need is practice

Yes, practice is the key word here. Either way - TV and streets is the way to go if you need good [any] language skills.

The same you can say about the Russian language in Moldova. The children who have a roumainian family, learn the language on the street or talking with their friends!

this is an exception, moldova is a billingual country..

well, i don't travel too much abroad like others, but here in Moldova i can learn english only on TV? reading books in english is very helpful, but anyway i am sure i speak badly in english :(
too bad all the teachers of english find anothers work that that of teacher(because of little salary, as you know)

another question: should i learn french? yes or no? or maybe i should learn english and nothing more....??

you should learn every language you can :lol: it's always a plus !!!
